The shearing pump is designed to reduce the cost of mixing polymers and clays while improving mud properties. It shears the polymers, eliminates fish eyes, and prevents polymer chaining, which can’t pass through the shaker screen.
Drilling mud shear pumps are an essential component of the circulating system in drilling operations. Their primary function is to provide the necessary pressure and flow rate to circulate the drilling fluid (mud) through the drill string, out the bit nozzles, and back up the annulus.
Shearing Action
1. As the drilling mud is pumped through the bit nozzles at high velocity, it experiences intense shear forces that help emulsify and condition the mud.
